Join us on July 2nd, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm for the launch of a special edition of Canadian Issues examining the state of national unity in Canada at a moment of renewed urgency for the federation. With a forthcoming Quebec election in which the possibility of a renewed referendum mandate may become a defining issue, and an Alberta referendum later that month raising questions about separation, Canadians are once again being asked to confront old unity debates in new political forms.

The webinar will feature the release of new Léger polling for the Association for Canadian Studies on regionalism and pride in Canada, presented by Jack Jedwab, President and CEO of the Association for Canadian Studies and the Metropolis Institute. This will be followed by commentary from two contributors to the publication: the Honourable Stéphane Dion and Professor Lisa Young of the University of Calgary. Together, the discussion will reflect on the combined impact of these developments, the rise of regional alienation, and the challenges of sustaining a shared sense of belonging across a diverse and increasingly contested federation.

Note: You must use an email address associated with a Zoom account to register for this webinar.
