The ongoing crisis of housing affordability in Canada is disproportionately impacting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). Join OCASI and the Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR) for a two-part workshop to learn more about the intersections of GBV and housing insecurity. Part 1 will focus on GBV and housing research. Part 2 will be on rental housing law. This workshop will include information on:
- Understanding Canada's housing crisis
- Research findings on GBV and housing insecurity
- Understanding rental housing law including:
- Fairness when starting and ending a tenancy
- Limits on rent increases
- Privacy
- Fair Process around evictions

The Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR) is Canada's leading organization working to advance the right to housing. They advance the right to housing by serving renters to help them stay housed, providing education and training about housing rights, advancing rights-based housing policy through research, policy development, advocacy and law reform.
