Let's Voice the Vote, York Region! A Training for Community Organizations

With municipal elections taking place across Ontario this October 2026, Voice the Vote is excited to invite staff and volunteers from community organizations to join us for hands-on training focused on civic engagement during an election. Elections are powerful opportunities for community organizations to help the communities they serve understand the impact they can have by using their voices and participating in the civic process. This training will provide an overview of municipal elections and the role of municipal government while exploring the strategies and principles that support meaningful community engagement. The training will take place on August 25th from 10 AM to 1 PM in rooms G/H at Angus Glen Library, Markham. The session includes:

  • Two hours of interactive training
  • Practical ideas and resources you can use in your community
  • A catered lunch
  • Time to connect and exchange ideas with other community leaders

This event is part of Voice the Vote, a non-partisan initiative helping people across the Greater Toronto Area use their voice, cast their vote, and shape their community in the 2026 municipal elections. Voice the Vote is powered by the Democratic Engagement Exchange and United Way Greater Toronto. Note: We will be providing training sessions both in-person across the Greater Toronto Area and virtually province-wide. If you are interested in a different training date, keep an eye out on our social media @voicethevote.ca or our website voicethevote.ca to register.
