Youth workers: Refer your newcomer youth clients and join OCASI’s Youth Advisory Group (YAG)
We are inviting youth workers to partner with us on our 2026/27 Youth Advisory Group (YAG) project. We are seeking youth workers who can refer 1 or 2 newcomer youth clients to take part in a short, paid creative project.
To be eligible:
- Youth workers must work directly with newcomer youth in Ontario in some capacity.
- Newcomer youth must be
- between the ages of 14 and 29
- eligible for IRCC-funded services
- have an interest in digital content creation
About the project
This project aims to create useful content to help young newcomers settle into life in Ontario. Youth will help create this content based on their experiences, their needs, and what they wish they and their families had known before arriving.
Content includes short videos, articles, illustrations, testimonials, etc. Youth workers will partner with OCASI’s YAG to collaborate with and support their youth in completing their project.
Youth workers and newcomer youth will be asked to participate in two virtual meetings, and youth will also work on their projects on their own time. Newcomer youth will be compensated for their time ($30/hour for a total of 10 hours).
We hope to involve youth from different regions of Ontario in both French and English, with a priority given to northern, rural and small centres. The project is expected to take place in October or November.
What YAG participants can gain
In addition to monetary compensation, this project will also allow newcomer youth to gain experience for their résumé, build connections, and possibly obtain references.
This is also an opportunity for a partnership between your organization and OCASI. Your agency will be mentioned in the content created and published on Settlement.Org or Etablissement.Org, as well as in communications related to the project
