Advisor, Research, Policy & Evaluation – PNSG
(12- Month Contract)

How you will make a difference:
Reporting to the Director, Peel Newcomer Strategy Group, the Advisor, Research, Policy and Evaluation – PNSG, is responsible to develop and manage a collection of research and evaluation initiatives for the Peel Newcomer Strategy Group (PNSG). This responsibility includes monitoring research and evaluative components within projects prioritized by member organizations focusing on areas like cross-sectoral data strategies to support planning for newcomers, linkages between housing and employment, healthcare access, and the development of welcoming, newcomer-inclusive communities.
- Working with the Director, provide key advice and recommendations based on a research, policy and evaluation portfolio
- Lead the coordination and facilitation of work with community research partners and consultants on issues such as refugee healthcare and the development of ‘welcoming communities’
- Author reports and/or presentations to move research outcomes into possible future collaborative work by immigrant-serving organizations
- Contribute to planning and implementing a forum on issues such as developing a regional data strategy based on collaborative data priorities, research on welcoming community development in Peel region
- Monitor emerging trends in immigration and newcomer needs, and related federal and provincial policies and initiatives
- Develop positive relationships across Peel and other relevant jurisdictions with researchers, advocates, research teams, and government staff (e.g. participate on relevant tables)
- Support PNSG’s community meetings and trainings, including evaluation plans and implementation
- Contribute to PNSG’s monthly newsletter and annual Collective Impact Report
What you bring to the role: - Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work-related experience
- More than 3 years experience in research or community-based research
- Quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills to gather and synthesize information in order to develop sound recommendations
- Knowledge of immigrant and newcomer programs and services and issues
- Project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong writing and knowledge translation skills to prepare reports and information papers for various audience
- Experience in facilitating meetings and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills; attention to detail
- Proven presentation skills including the ability to present to various audiences both internal and external to Peel
- Residence in Peel will be taken into consideration
Willingness to actively contribute to the organizational reconciliation and equity framework through participation in learning opportunities and implementing anti-oppressive and anti-racist learnings into action internally and externally
