Our mission is to achieve equality, access and full participation for immigrants and refugees in every aspect of Canadian life. OCASI was founded in 1978 and now has over 250 member agencies across Ontario.

Position Overview 

The Bilingual Coordinator, E-learning Instructional Designer is responsible for designing and developing e-learning courses in both English and French to enhance the knowledge and expertise of the immigrant and refugee-serving sector. 

The Coordinator must demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, access to services, anti-racism, anti-oppression, gender justice, and anti-poverty, with an understanding of how these issues impact immigrants and refugees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Productive Enterprises, design and develop engaging, effective and interactive e-learning courses for multiple audiences, frontline staff, and managers in the immigrant and refugee sector
  • Utilize instructional design, adult learning principles, and innovation strategies in the conception, design, and development of e-learning courses
  • Work on multiple e-learning projects simultaneously at various stages of development
  • Follow Quality Matters guidelines and employ AODA principles to provide inclusive and equitable access to learning
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and managers to plan, design and develop new e learning courses
  • Create scripts/storyboards when planning for a new e-learning module
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of learning
  • Review, edit and format own work and work of others to improve quality, readability, consistency, and effectiveness of e-learning courses
  • Perform quality assurance checks for functionality, quality and timing, and edit to improve accuracy and learner experience.
  • Upload and replace SCORM packages to LMS
  • Develop processes and procedures to facilitate the design, development, and implementation of new courses and updates to existing courses
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and provide online facilitation strategies to facilitators
  • Uphold OCASI’s basic principles for the workplace environment including commitments to the needs, directions and concerns of immigrants and refugees and OCASI’s member organizations
  • Maintain updated knowledge base of issues related to all aspects of the newcomer settlement process
  • Contributes to a healthy and safe environment for oneself and others and complies with all safe working procedures and instructions including OCASI’s policies and procedures
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Embrace and actively uphold OCASI’s mission, equity, access, anti-racism and anti oppression principles
  • Acknowledge, appreciate, and encourage individual differences and value people for their skills, competencies, and contribution to OCASI’s continuing success
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Masters degree or equivalent in instructional design, teaching and learning in higher education, educational technology, training and development, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience designing training programs and developing online, self-paced eLearning modules
  • Advanced expertise with multiple web authoring tools, including Articulate Storyline, Articulate Studio, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, Adobe After Effects and Illustrator - Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and some experience with Moodle
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation
  • Solid knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify target audience needs and development solutions, and logically organize complex information
  • Awareness of the immigrant and refugee sector and the various programs and services provided for newcomers to Canada
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to be professional and maintain respectful communication
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and demanding schedules
  • Good judgment, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team environment

Employment Details 

Salary is $52,501 plus benefits, this role is unionized with Unifor Local 87M 

Job type: Full-time position based on 35 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
