Call for Nominations
The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) invites nominations for dedicated and committed individuals to serve on its Board of Directors
CCVT is a non-profit organization that supports survivors of torture, war, genocide, and crimes against humanity. Since its founding in 1977, CCVT has provided counseling, settlement, advocacy, and community engagement to empower survivors and their families to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
We are seeking nominees who share our values of compassion, justice, integrity, and inclusiveness, and who bring skills, lived experience, or professional expertise to strengthen our mission.
Responsibilities:
- Attend and actively participate in the monthly board meetings (normally 2 hours on weekday evenings)
- Join at least one board committee related to your area of expertise
- Attend the Annual General Meetings
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights, social justice, and equity.
- Experience in governance, law, finance, fundraising, communications, mental health, settlement, or community engagement is an asset.
- Ability to contribute time, knowledge, and resources to support the organization.
- Prior board or management experience in the charitable sector is welcome but not required.
- Survivors of torture, refugees, newcomers, and individuals from equity-seeking groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Nomination Process:
- Candidates may be nominated by an individual (including the candidate) or by an organization.
- A nomination package should include:
- A letter of nomination highlighting the candidate’s qualifications.
- A current CV or résumé.
