Position Title: Manager, Community Outreach and Development

Reporting to: Executive Director

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This position also requires working outside of regular operational hours including evenings and weekends.

Work location: This position requires onsite work.

Duration: One Year Fixed Term Contract

Salary: $67,000 including a robust benefits package

JOB SUMMARY

The Outreach and Development Manager will align development activities with the agency’s strategic priorities. The primary responsibilities for this position include proposal writing; third party and internal events (i.e. ssummer fest etc.); donor stewardship and volunteer and student placements within the agency. The Development Manager will provide coordination and management for the implementation and evaluation of the organization’s fund development strategies, secure corporate, individual and other sources of revenue. Select, recruit, train and supervise the volunteer staff and student placements in the organization. . Ensuring that the organization is always staffed with the best and most reliable Volunteers, correctly utilized for the fulfillment of the organizations objectives and goals

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify new sources of revenue
  • Write proposals and track information / responses on potential / current corporate, foundation and individual contributors
  • Research and cultivate a variety of stewardship strategies for existing and potential donors / prospects
  • Adhere to annual reporting cycle and tracking for all proposals
  • Develop and oversee stewardship relationships. (Maintenance of these relationships is key to the role)
  • Manage portfolio of current donors and prospects
  • Manage BINGO program effectively
  • Prepare reports and statistics and analyses related to areas of responsibility
  • Set targets and revenue goals for the agency in collaboration with Finance and the ED
  • Implement a volunteer recruitment plan that engages volunteers in the local community and ensures DBNC programs are well supported with a diverse network with various skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field of study. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in development in the not-for profit sector with a track record of success
  • 3+ years working experience with managing the Volunteer team at a non-profit organization
  • 2+ years of experience with program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer / team coordination 
  • Excellent organizational and community engagement abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
  • Consistently demonstrate sound judgment, strategic thinking, high integrity and an ability to build positive, lasting relationships
  • Diplomatic, courteous, and able to work well in stressful situations while maintaining a professional demeanor. Effective information-gathering and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, database and Internet. iCARE database experience an asset. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proposal writing; public speaking; presentations
  • Fluency in English. Second language is an asset
  • Mandatory police check - completed within the last six months
