The Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre (KWMC) is a vibrant, community-based organization dedicated to supporting newcomers and vulnerable individuals in achieving their full potential in Canada. We provide a range of programs and services that promote economic and social integration, including employment services, community connections, and skills development.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in managing the daily and strategic operations of the Centre. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to make a meaningful impact by overseeing program delivery, operational planning, staff performance, and fundraising efforts.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of KWMC, driving excellence in service delivery, compliance, and staff development. This role involves providing strategic oversight to programs, managing day-to-day operations, and working closely with the CEO and management team to align the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives with operational goals.
Key Qualifications
- Degree in Social Sciences, Education, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in diverse or non-profit settings. Ideally, with management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Immigration Settlement.
- Expertise in community development, coalition building, and collaborative models
- Knowledge of grant proposal writing
- Experience with IRCC reporting an asset.
- Second language an asset.
Culture Highlights
- A friendly, warm, and welcoming culture where diversity is celebrated, and teamwork is both effective and enjoyable.
- A highly flexible work model with four-day work weeks.
- Generous paid time off, group benefits, and pension plan.
Employment Details
- This role can be performed in a hybrid model, both in the office and remotely. The organization's mission may sometimes require this role to be performed in nonstandard workplaces.
- This role typically works a standard work week but will occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overtime to accommodate KWMC events and activities.
- Travel is required—typically within the local community, but occasionally provincial or national travel may be required. Access to reliable transportation is also required.
- As part of the hiring process, KWMC requires new hires to obtain and submit a police check from their local police services. The Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre acknowledges the systemic racism and oppression inherent in our society, including in our police and justice systems. The result is an over-representation of Indigenous, racialized, and Black people in these systems, meaning that a police check can negatively impact these communities. For that reason, the vulnerable sector police check is only one aspect of the hiring process, and the decision to hire or not does not rest solely on the outcome of the vulnerable sector check.
- The KW Multicultural Centre is committed to hiring employees who represent the diversity and multiculturalism of our community. We encourage applications from qualified members of groups with historical or current barriers to equity, which can include race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender expression, first language, accent, history of arrest or conviction, religion, and others.
- KW Multicultural Centre’s vision is a “safe and inclusive community, where every individual, regardless of immigration status, has equitable access to opportunities and resources to prosper and thrive.”
