Position Summary
At Achev, we are committed to fostering inclusive workplaces and empowering individuals of all abilities to thrive. Our Employment Services team includes dedicated specialists who support individuals with disabilities in achieving meaningful and sustainable employment. We are currently seeking a Disability Employment Support Specialist (ESS) to join our team and provide services at our Liberty location.

As a key member of Achev’s Employment Services team, the Employment Support Specialist (ESS) will work within our specialized disability support program in Toronto. The ESS will provide personalized assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them clarify career goals, assess skills and interests, prepare for employment, and navigate workplace integration. This role may also include job retention support, coaching, and mentoring to ensure long-term success.
The ESS will be responsible for delivering components of Ontario’s Integrated Employment Services model, adapting practices based on client needs. This position will be based out of our Achev site at our Liberty location. Ability to travel between sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
Job Search and Career Support
- Deliver structured and individualized job search assistance in both group and one-on-one settings.
- Guide clients through career exploration, goal setting, and assessment of interests, skills, and experience.
- Facilitate orientation to workplace norms, employer expectations, and Canadian workplace culture.
- Provide coaching in life skills that support employment success.
- Support clients in navigating disability disclosure in employment contexts.
- Assist with resume development, interview preparation, and job application strategies.
- Offer guidance on education and training pathways, professional accreditation, and prior learning assessments.
- Provide mentoring and coaching throughout the job search process.
- Refer clients to additional services and supports as needed.
- Deliver enhanced support for clients requiring assistance with job search, mentoring, or job retention.
Administrative and Collaborative Duties
- Maintain current knowledge of local labour market trends, community resources, and referral protocols.
- Use organizational and funder databases to track client progress and document service delivery.
- Maintain accurate case notes and records of client engagement and outcomes.
- Collaborate with other team members across the Employment Services model.
- Provide services across multiple locations in GTA Region as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field (University Degree or College Diploma).
- 1–2 years of experience in employment support or related services is an asset.
- Familiarity with outcome-based employment services, Ministry-delivered programs and funders (e.g., Better Jobs Ontario, WCG etc.).
- Experience in job search facilitation, coaching, and employment retention strategies.
- Knowledge of current job search techniques, assessment tools, and adult learning principles.
- Proficiency in technology, including Achev’s data management systems, funder databases, and AI tools.
- Strong understanding of recruitment practices, community resources, and wraparound support services.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities, newcomers, youth, and other equity-deserving groups.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and goal-oriented with strong time management abilities.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and online employment platforms).
- Bilingualism (English/French) or fluency in additional languages is considered an asset.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or split shifts as needed.
- Knowledge of the employment needs of individuals with disabilities and/or lived experience is strongly valued.
