Job Title:     Family Wellbeing Program Worker (Until March 31st, 2025 with possibility of extension)

Team/Unit:  CICS Youth Services 

Location:     IRC and other itinerant service locations 

Hours:         35 hours per week; may work irregular hours, including evenings, Saturdays and some holidays; 

Salary:        $ 48,357 - $ $54,400

Hourly:        $26.57

Status:        Unionized 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, coordinate, and evaluate group sessions specifically aimed at parents and caregivers. Utilize online platforms to promote and deliver workshops, events, and services that support this demographic.
  • Stay updated on the needs of families with at-risk youth and actively engage in outreach to these communities.
  • Provide one-on-one consultations and case management services to caregivers and parents of at-risk youth.
  • Facilitate access to essential services and resources, helping to overcome barriers related to language, culture, race, and socioeconomic status through interpretation or translation services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all interactions and services provided.
  • Keep the team updated on new information, including changes in government policies and community resources, to effectively guide and refer caregivers and parents.
  • Update databases related to caregivers and parents, and prepare statistical and financial reports as needed.
  • Monitor program activities, budget, and expenses as directed by the program Manager.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with both internal teams and external organizations.
  • Provide daily support to the team and work collaboratively with other program workers focused on family well-being.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from a Canadian university in Social Sciences or a related field is required. Candidates with a combination of relevant training and experience will also be considered.
  • At least two years of hands-on experience in a non-profit environment is essential, particularly experience working with at-risk youth and their families.
  • Strong understanding of the unique cultural, economic, and social challenges faced by immigrant families, especially those who are marginalized.
  • Demonstrated skills in organizing and coordinating programs and services, making referrals, and managing tasks. Experience working with diverse cultures and age groups is a must.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including skills in team building, resolving conflicts, and problem-solving.
  • Prior experience in coordinating resources and evaluating programs or services.
  • Exceptional communication skills in both spoken and written English are required. Public speaking and report writing skills are essential. Second language commonly spoken by our client base (Mandarin or Cantonese preferred) is a plus.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills are necessary for effective internal and external collaboration, networking, and communication.
  • Must be able to juggle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail is crucial, along with the ability to plan, analyze data, and compile concise reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to perform some physical activities (e.g. lifting and loading program materials and office equipment);
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening is mandatory;
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and must have access to a car to carry out duties.
