POSITION: Fundraiser
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
WORK HOURS: 35 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $32 per hour
JOB SUMMARY:
The Fundraiser will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to identify fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns to help move DBNC closer to its financial goals. This position is also responsible for collaborating with internal teams to create compelling donor outreach materials and ensure fundraising efforts align with organizational goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop fundraising materials, including proposals, decks, and reports.
- Research and write grant proposals to apply for funding.
- Draft fundraising appeals, donor communications, and sponsorship proposals.
- Research and identify potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
- Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors.
- Organize and manage fundraising events such as 3rd party events, community events, etc.
- Collaborate with other teams to promote fundraising campaigns and initiatives effectively.
- Coordinate activities of volunteers and interns related to event planning and execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Ensure timely recognition of donors and sponsors by sending thank-you letters, impact reports, and updates.
- Maintain accurate donor records and generate regular reports to track fundraising progress.
- Ensure that all legal reporting requirements are satisfied.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a Degree or diploma in a relevant field of study. (Communications, Business, Public Relations, etc.) Or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Minimum three years of direct experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing preferably in a non-profit environment.
- A passion for gender, racial, economic and social justice, along with a commitment to DBNC's mission, vision and values.
- Experience in writing grant proposals and fundraising letters.
- Superior interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and sponsors.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning events.
- Familiarity with online fundraising platforms.
- Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office products.
- Solid understanding of fundraising best practices and trends.
- Strong decision-making skills and effective at problem-solving and negotiating resolutions.
- Must be able to work in a virtual and in-person environment from a variety of locations within the Peel Region.
