This is non-union contract position scheduled to work overnights shifts.
Sunday night to Thursday night and / or weekends Friday night, Saturday night and on Statutory Holidays (overnight from 11:00pm to 7:00am)
DUTIES
- Provides late reception for new arrivals which includes admission, brief explanation of house rules, feeds and clean afterwards.
- Oversees the safety and security of the residents and the Centre during the night.
- Ensure all the offices are under lock.
- Act as a staff person on duty for emergencies such Illness, fire, family emergency, Violence, theft, client illness, and emergency maintenance situations,
- Ensure house rules are observed,
- Responsible for the admission, discharge and profile creation on database (SMIS)
- Ensure rooms are equipped with toiletries, linens, etc.
- Responsible for interpretation/translation services.
- Conduct regular room checks, building checks and equipment as fire alarms, fire exits, smoke detectors, change battery from smoke detectors, and record finding on the logbook.
- Responsible for the admission of RAP clients, pre-departure services and check-out of residents.
- Responsible for office duties such as answering telephones, request client transportation, and fill out taxi vouchers.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Community college diploma in community work/human services or equivalent.
- Experience working with newcomers and refugees.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Verbal and written English is required. Preference will be given to those who speak any of the following languages: Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, French, Urdu, Hindi, Tigrinya, Swahili, and Amharic.
- Previous experience with interpretation/translation considered an asset.
- Sensitive to the needs and issues facing newcomers.
- Possession of valid First Aid/CPR training certificate is an asset.
- Required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police check. The VSS must have been completed within the last 6 months.
- Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to require information establishing the validity of the exemption
LOCATION: Toronto
DURATION: December 9, 2024 to March 31, 2026
SALARY RANGE: $16.55 per hour
