Job Summary
The Program Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of multiple community health initiatives, including the Locally Driven Population Health Model (LDPHM), Preventive Care programs, and Newcomer-Inclusive community projects.
Working closely with the Program Manager, this role provides day-to-day coordination, administrative support, and relationship-building to ensure high-quality, responsive services for community members. The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting staff, volunteers, students, and partners; tracking activities and outcomes; and responding to the evolving needs of participants across projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Support
- Support the Program Manager and leadership team in delivering high-quality, community-responsive programs.
- Coordinate project schedules, activities, resources, supplies, and space bookings.
- Monitor project implementation, flag issues, and support timely problem-solving.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders related to assigned projects.
- Create weekly schedules, assign tasks, and organize program activities and events.
Community & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with community agencies, service providers, and local partners across Mississauga.
- Support engagement with priority populations, including newcomers and equity-deserving communities.
- Assist with outreach, communication, and coordination for community events and large-scale initiatives.
Participant & Service Support
- Assist participants and community members in accessing program services and supports.
- Respond to participant needs with sensitivity, professionalism, and a client-centred approach.
- Support orientation sessions, presentations, workshops, and team meetings.
Administration, Data & Reporting
- Track attendance, activities, outputs, and outcomes across projects.
- Collect, maintain, and submit accurate program data and reports in collaboration with the Program Manager.
- Monitor staff and facilitator hours, schedules, and related documentation.
- Provide general administrative support, including documentation, coordination, and follow-up.
Other
- Support planning and dissemination of program information and materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support program and organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in community development, social services, project management, social work, health promotion, office administration, or a related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a non-profit, community health, or social services setting.
- Experience working with priority or equity-deserving communities, including newcomers.
- Strong client-service orientation, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in challenging situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build trust and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience supporting presentations or group sessions.
- Solid problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using data-tracking tools.
- Strong time-management skills and attention to detail.
- Cultural humility and sensitivity to diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work both in-person and virtually, including occasional evenings or weekends within the Peel region.
