Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) require funded organizations to develop and implement an antiracism policy. For many immigration & refugee-serving settlement organizations, this requirement raises important—and sometimes difficult—questions about scope, accountability, advocacy, and staff expectations, and risk.
This interactive 2-hour workshop is designed for organizations at all stages of readiness, to focus on practical tools, real-world scenarios, and decision-making frameworks that support meaningful and sustainable implementation of antiracism policies.
Participants will explore key practices and principles that support antiracism policy implementation including, how to operationalize it, how to evaluate impact, and managing common tensions while acknowledging the complex environments in which organizations operate.
Learning Outcomes:
During the session, participants will:
- Explore the purpose and scope of an antiracism policy and identify key components of an antiracism policy
- Delve into and discuss the factors that accompany policy implementation, with a focus on challenges that arise
- Explore strategies to build organizational buy-in and shared accountability
- Identify tools and framework to evaluate and strengthen antiracism efforts over time
