Jane Alliance Neighbourhood Services is a non-profit charity and community organization
dedicated to serving equity-serving individuals in a priority Neighbourhood in Toronto. Our diverse
range of programs includes support for seniors, women, youth and families, employment services,
and a food bank for marginalized individuals in the community.


Position Overview:


JANS is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals for the role of Community Support
Worker as part of our Summer Student Program. This opportunity is part of a government initiative
to provide students with hands-on experience and skills development while making a positive
impact on the community.


Responsibilities:

  • Client Support:
    Provide direct support to community members, including seniors, women, youth, and families, in
    accessing and navigating JANS programs and services.
    Conduct intake assessments to identify individual needs and goals.
  • Advocacy and Empowerment:
    Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they have access to appropriate resources and services.
    Empower individuals by fostering a sense of community, inclusion, and self-sufficiency.
  • Resource Navigation:
    Assist clients in navigating available resources, both within JANS and in the broader community.
    Provide information on housing, healthcare, education, and other relevant services.
  • Workshop Facilitation:
    Collaborate with program coordinators to plan and facilitate workshops addressing the needs of
    community members.
    Cover topics such as life skills, mental health, and community engagement.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
    Prepare reports on client interactions and program outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution and will return to full-time studies in the fall of
    2026.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathetic and culturally sensitive, with a commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in community services or social work is an asset.

Duration: Summer 2026-8 Weeks
