Jane Alliance Neighbourhood Services is a non-profit charity and community organization
dedicated to serving equity-serving individuals in a priority Neighbourhood in Toronto. Our
comprehensive programs include support for seniors, women, youth and families, employment
services, and a food bank for marginalized individuals in the community.
Position Overview:
JANS is seeking an energetic and passionate individual for the Youth Worker position as part of our
Summer Student Program. This opportunity is part of a government initiative aimed at providing
students with hands-on experience in youth engagement and community development during the
summer months.
Responsibilities:
- Youth Program Development: Collaborate with the program team to plan, implement, and evaluate
youth-focused programs and activities. - Design and organize workshops, events, and recreational activities that cater to the needs and
interests of youth in the community. - Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship and guidance to youth, fostering positive
relationships and supporting their personal and educational development. Assist in creating a safe
and inclusive space for youth to express themselves and share their experiences. - Community Outreach: Engage with local schools, community centres, and other organizations to
promote youth programs and encourage participation. Act as a liaison between JANS and external
partners involved in youth initiatives. - Advocacy and Support: Advocate for the needs and concerns of youth within the community.
- Provide support to youth facing challenges such as educational barriers, mental health issues, and
employment readiness. - Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant feedback, and
other relevant data. Assist in administrative tasks related to program coordination and youth
engagement.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution and will return to full-time studies in the fall of
2026. - Passion for working with youth and a commitment to fostering positive community engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to plan and execute engaging and inclusive activities for youth.
- Previous experience in youth work, community development, or a related field is an asset.
Duration: Summer 2026- 8 Weeks
