HIRING: Full-time Community Organizer (Deadline: February 15, 2026!)

CCNCTO is looking to fill ONE (1) position. The position will begin as soon as possible and end on March 31, 2027, with the possibility of an extension. 

The Chinese Canadian National Council Toronto Chapter (“CCNCTO”) is an organization of  Chinese Canadians in the Greater Toronto Area that promotes equity, social justice, and inclusive civic participation by conducting public education, systemic advocacy, community development, and coalition-building. The core value of our work lies in centering the needs of the most vulnerable groups in our program direction and policy advocacy work.

Our current priorities are outreaching to the marginalized Chinese Canadian community (focus on workers), building up community capacity, creating intergenerational spaces, and continuing our advocacy work on anti-racism. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified organizer with experience in outreach, base-building, leadership development and community organizing in the Chinese Canadian community. Successful candidates will have strong social skills, experience and understanding of labour and community organizing, the ability to work independently, a strong understanding of the Chinese immigrant community in the GTA, and a strong understanding of an anti-oppression framework. 

Work Location: Flexibility to work from home, but must be able to attend the Scarborough office location (1911 Kennedy Rd) and travel within the Greater Toronto Area to attend meetings and events as needed.  

Major Responsibilities 

  • Conducting both physical and digital outreach to targeted groups in Scarborough, York Region, Downtown Toronto, and Mississauga;
  • Building one-on-one deep engagement relationships with diverse Chinese (im)migrant members to increase members' knowledge about social justice issues, and to increase their capacity in taking leadership roles in the organization’s decision-making process;
  • Leading or supporting current CCNCTO’s senior, worker, and youth programs and community research projects;
  • Coordinating and facilitating community meetings, workshops and events;
  • Creating community informational and educational resources;
  • Other duties as required 

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 1 year experience in community organizing or working with grassroots community organizations;
  • Minimum 1 year experience in base-building, leadership development, organizing campaigns and project management in non-profit/community organizations;
  • Strong working knowledge of issues impacting the working-class Chinese Canadian community and other racialized communities;
  • Working fluency in Chinese (ie. Mandarin)
  • Able to read and write Chinese
  • Access to vehicle and ability to drive volunteers and members;
  • Passion for community organizing and social justice;
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills;

Assets:

  • Experience joining CCNCTO events or volunteering with CCNCTO
  • Able to speak Cantonese;
  • Knowledge of the current social justice movements and campaigns is a strong asset;

Community Organizers will report to the Executive Director of CCNCTO and will have a full-time schedule (35 hours per week). The rate of pay is $25-$30 per hour, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
