We're excited to share news from one of our coalition members, MCIS Language Solutions!
MCIS Language Solutions is thrilled to announce the call for proposals for the 2025 MCIS Language Advocacy Microgrants. This initiative aims to support projects that advance linguistic equity and justice across Canada.
What are the MCIS Language Advocacy Microgrants?
The main objectives of these grants are to increase access to vital services, enhance the well-being of language communities, and promote innovation in language advocacy.
Eligible projects may encompass a wide range of activities, including but not limited to:
- Arts-based advocacy for minority language education
- Digital language accessibility initiatives
- Campaigns promoting language rights as human rights
- Defense of minority language access
- Research on language access and well-being Studies on language access and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Language revitalization efforts
- Promotion of multilingual education in mother tongues
The grants are designed to improve access to vital services, enhance the well-being of language communities and encourage innovation in language advocacy.
Grant Details:
- First Place: $10,000
- Runners-Up: $5,000 each for two projects
Eligibility:
Applicants must have a history of actively working to promote, preserve, or protect language access as a human right. Ineligible individuals and organizations may partner with eligible applicants to participate
How to Apply:
Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2025, through our online portal.
All supporting documentation, including project timelines, budgets, and partner commitments, should be included.
Winners will be announced at the annual MCIS Language Impact event in May 2025
Judging Criteria:
The grants will be judged based on five key criteria:
- Language Advocacy: Effectiveness and equitability of the proposed project.
- Community Impact: Improved access to essential services and well-being of language communities.
- Innovation: Novel approaches in the field of language advocacy.
- Scalability: Potential for community growth and adaptability to other regions.
- Feasibility: Viability of the implementation plan and strategic partnerships
