Position Summary

As a Program Coordinator in the field of Refugee Resettlement, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the duties of the airport team that consists of Workplace Coordinators and On Call Resettlement Counsellors at YYZ, Toronto Pearson Airport.

You will be working closely with the airport team and the Program Manager, and play a vital role in helping refugees integrate into their new communities and rebuild their lives.

Contract until March 31, 2026 with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, training, and supervising the airport team
  • Monitoring and authorizing bi-weekly timesheets/payroll.
  • Building weekly schedule for 50-75 staff, and ensuring staff presence is commensurate with the arriving clients’ spoken languages
  • Booking hotel rooms for overnight clients, and making necessary additions/cancellations day or night
  • Coordinate the timely processing and updating of Notifications of Arrivals’ emails, and communicate them to airport team
  • Ensure that staff follow proper professional and ethical conduct when dealing with clients, and offer guidance to ensure the quality of service is maintained
  • Conduct performance reviews and take all needed actions to remedy identified issues
  • Assist the Program Manager to carry out their duties in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • University degree in Social Work, Management, or Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and 3 years' work experience
  • Strong knowledge of the social and community services sector
  • Experience in supervision and program coordination and delivery
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Proven management experience with demonstrated capacity to manage a small team in a high pace environment
  • Proven ability to lead and promote a positive and professional team culture
  • Proven program management experience and demonstrated ability to deliver program outcomes on time and to a high standard
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a flexible schedule
  • At least three years' experience in the supervision of staff
  • Strong computer skills with advanced Excel knowledge and databases skills
  • Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail 

Other requirements

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check (completed when offer is made)
