Who is a Peer Champion?
A Peer Champion is someone passionate about taking action against domestic violence.
You don't have to be an expert; have a desire to make change for the better.
You can apply as an individual, as part of a team, or as a representative of an organization.
What Do Peer Champions Do?
Peer Champions hold two educational events about domestic violence in immigrant and refugee communities over the course of a year. This flexible role allows you to be creative and design your own events, with support for the Campaign Coordinator.
What Support Do Peer Champions Receive?
Peer Champions with the IRCNFF Campaign receive training, resources, and ongoing support from the Campaign Coordinator.
They will also receive an honorarium to support their work.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
OCASI is looking for 20 Peer Champions from diverse regions of Ontario.
Peer Champions must be part of an immigrant or refugee community.
All genders are encouraged to apply. We hope for at least 8 to 9 Peer Champions from areas outside the GTHA this year.
We are also prioritizing applications from Indigenous Communities, the LGBTQAI+ community and the (dis) ability communities.
How Can I Apply?
If you or someone you know wants to apply to be a Peer Champion, you can find the application on the IRCNFF page.
The application deadline is May 16, 2025
If you have any questions about the application, please contact the IRCNFF Coordinator Berivan Sarikaya, at bsarikaya@ocasi.org
